Hakgala, located in the Nuwara Eliya District of the Central Province of Sri Lanka, is a mountain 2,169 m (7,116 ft) above sea level and most of the hill country is covered by the Strict Nature Reserve. Hakgala Botanic Gardens is located on the northeastern slope of Hakgala Hill.
Hakgala, famous for its waterfalls such as
Boburu Falls, is also historically famous. Many places related to the story of
Rama Ravana in the distant past are located in the Haggala area.
